three dead and several others injured. sal castaneda joins us now from the newsroom with more on the suspect and his dangerous crime spree. >> reporter: tory, the suspect is a tomorrow los angeles police officer who was fired in 2008 for making false statements. he is suspected of killing two people over the weekend and then shooting and killing a riverside police officer this morning. 33-year-old christopher dorner is described as an african american man, 6'0," 270 pounds, last seen driveing a gray nissan pickup truck. he was seen here with then police chief william bratton, the police advisor relm hired by oakland. police say his crime spree began sunday night when he shot and killed a woman, monica kwan, the daughter of former police captain and her fiance, a 27-year-old man. last night police say he attempted to steal a boat from the harbor but was unsuccessful. now steal on the run dorner shot at 4 police officers at two separate locations ambushing and killing a riverside officer at a traffic light and injuring another. dorner is said to have a vendetta against all law e

cornell bernard tells us from san jose as the mayor is ready for the state of the city address. cornell? >> normally it is a word no one wants to hear but the mayor will make it a big part of the state of the city address. the word is "taxes." the mayor says the city needs a sales tax increase and will call on community leaders to organize a campaign to support police and fire services and restore pay for workers who had to take cuts to balance the budget. a poll suggests that voters could be willing to do that. there is 70 percent support if a quarter percent sales increase but 57 percent for half a percent increase. the earliest it would be on the battle is next year, the 5th sales tax measure voters have approved since the mayor took office in 2007. the state of the city address is underway at 6:30 right here at city hall. >> fairfield police are asking for your help in finding the killer of a 13-year-old girl. the guardian for the 13-year-old reported her missing last thursday evening. her body was found friday m

evening. the coroner's office will use dental records or forensics to identify christopher dorner. they say his body is burned beyond recognition, but law enforcement sources tell nbc news, make no doubt, this is the suspect. tonight, this rubble is all that remains of the cabin where fugitive christopher dorner made his last stand. the drama began tuesday afternoon, miles away. 12:20 p.m., a 911 call from this cabin. two women who arrived to clean the home surprised dorner who was holed up inside. he tied them up and stole their car. >> did we get a physical on the guy? what is he wearing? >> reporter: dressed in camouflage and armed, dorner drove down a mountain road. he opened fire on fish and wildlife wardens in pursuit. >> the suspect took his weapon out, stuck it out the window of his vehicle, and shot our game warden five times. >> reporter: dorner crashed the car, then carjacked rick heltebrake. >> he pointed a gun at me, i an assault-type rifle. i stopped my truck, put it in park, raised my hands up. he said, "i don't want to hurt you. just get out." >> reporter: but dorn

and police say he has access to multiple weapons and assault rifles. cnn's kyung lah is joining us from los angeles where the police chief is calling it extremely worry some and scare ree. what's the latest kyung? >> reporter: certainly scary for anyone connected to the police department in southern california. this is where today's shooting spree began but all of this, wolf, began earlier this week. the murder spree began on sunday with the double killing of a newly engaged couple, monica quan and keith lawrence, quan, the daughter of a retired lapd captain, the officer who represented christopher dorner in front of the police board that eventually fired him. dorner refers to quan's murder in his man guess stow. he writes, i never had the opportunity to have a family of my own. i'm terminating yours. self-preservation is no longer important to me. i do not fear death as i died long ago on january 2nd of '09, a date a few month after dorner was fired as a police officer. the lapd fanned out, launching 40 protection details throughout southern california. >> lapd is the specific target but a

(shots) again -- we know two officers were wounded today. within the hour. word that one of the two has died. christopher dorner is now suspected in four murders since sunday february 3rd. right now, the suspect is barricaded in a cabin. justine waldman is standing by with more on how the events have unfolded in the last few hours. >> reporter: the los angeles police department gave an update. >> today, about 12: they received a call of a stolen vehicle. near club view drive and this stolen vehicle was similar in appearance to christopher dorner. they immediately conducted a ground and air search that highway 38 & glass road or the suspect flaw fled into the road. and after that, he barricaded himself into a big bea r cabine just moments ago the los angeles police department gave an update on the search for chris dorner. here is a breakdown of how things unfolded today. one of the deputies. police, the fbi and swat teams have been combing the big bear area since last week in what's being considered one of the largest manhunts in south

everywhere. that is what john sibley has seen in hattiesburg. he jones us on the telephone. i'm here with our meteorologist chad myers. tell us what you saw. >> reporter: i picked up the tornado out of marion county, mississippi. there was initial report that came out of their emergency management agency that a tornado had indeed touched down and struck several homes, injuring several people. from there, i was able to pick it up about 10 miles to the west of hattiesburg. the storm was larger on the western side of the interstate than the eastern side. we've been able to go through and look at our video. now, the folks in west hattiesburg, i didn't hear sirens over there, but as we moved toward the college campus. the sirens were loud and proud. also want to give a shout out to the local fire department. as the tornado was paralleling highway # 8 and moving into the city. they were out there blocking traffic to keep folks from driving into the tornado as well as police out on the interstate. they had the interstate blocked for a time. >> chad myers, just amazing video we're watching here. what
